All successful DIY projects start with good preparation. Once you've gathered your tools and made the installation solution, it's time to prep the windows. For the best results, and to get proper adhesion of the film, your windows need to be well cleaned prior to installation.
To get the windows ready, we recommend cleaning them with a razor blade scraper to remove any stubborn dirt and debris. First, spray the window with the prepared installation solution (#1), and then use the razor blade scraper to scrape the glass clean (#2). Use quick, short strokes, taking care not to cut yourself while using the razor blade scraper.

After all the dirt has been removed with the razor, wet the window again and squeegee the window dry. Using overlapping strokes squeegee the entire window being sure to wipe the squeegee clean with a paper towel between strokes to remove any accumulated dirt (#3).
Finally, wipe the edges of the glass dry with a clean paper towel (#4). Most of the dirt and contamination that makes its way under window film comes from the edges of the glass, so try to get the window as clean as possible.
PRO TIP: It’s helpful if you clean the outside of the window as well, so you can see whether the inside is ready for film.
