Windows come in different configurations like single hung, double hung, casement and sliding (sometimes called gliding). Concord Window Film provides kits for the most popular window types and sizes.
Compare the diagrams below to your windows to determine which window type you have. Note that sometimes you may have more than one type. For example, many homes have double hung windows throughout the house, but have a casement window over the kitchen sink or in a bathroom.
Single or Double Hung Window
Single or double hung windows look similar when you look at them. They both have two sashes that are arranged vertically one on top of the other. The main difference between the two is that in a double hung window, both of the sashes can move up and down and in a single hung, only the bottom sash moves up and down and the upper sash is fixed.
Whether a window is single or double hung has no bearing on window film so if you have either style, you'll purchase the double hung kit.
Casement Window
A casement window has two sashes arranged horizontally next to each other - one on the left, and a sash on the right. Casement windows typically have a handle for each sash that when turned, cranks the window open inside the home. Some homes have exclusively casement windows, others you may find just one casement window above the sink in the kitchen where it might be hard to open a single or double hung window because of the counter.
If you have casement windows, you'll purchase the casement window kit.
Sliding/Gliding Windows
Like casement windows, sliding or gliding windows have two sashes mounted next to each other. Instead of cranking the sash to open it, these sashes glide on a track like sliding glass patio doors.
Because the sash sizes for sliding/gliding windows are similar to casement windows, if you have sliding/gliding windows you'll purchase the casement window kit.
